Celebrates 20 Years in Business

A renowned Montreal fashion designer Kim Mendelson knew from an early age that she had a flair for fashion.

She attended LaSalle College which is a well known fashion design school in Montreal, Quebec.

After graduation in 1982 Kim worked in the fashion industry for six years before she founded Kim & Co. in 1988. This year Kim will be celebrating 20 years of having her own business.

In the beginning Kim had a thriving boutique business before she began airing her line of clothing on Shopping Channels worldwide. Developing three new collections every month, one for each of the networks.

She began with the Shopping Channel in Toronto, Ontario in 1995. Two years later in 1997 she went to QVC/UK in London, England and then QVC/Germany in Dusseldorf, Germany in August 2001. In the interim she also aired her line of clothing in the U.S.A.

Last year QVC/UK celebrated Kim's 10th anniversary in November by sending a production crew of six from the UK in October to film Montreal, Kim at work, Kim at home and Kim up north which they aired throughout her visit for all her viewers to see.

Because Kim has been so successful, she was invited to create a home collection for QVC/Germany which she launched in November last year and which turned out to be a tremendous success. She is now in the process of creating another collection with QVC/Germany to be aired later this year.

Kim & Co. has evolved into an internationally recognized brand where "women designing for women" is the driving force behind the company. All garments are made in Quebec. The trademark ready-to-wear fabric of Kim & Co. has a "slinky": quality that is loved for its timelessness and agelessness. The easy-flowing fit and feel of Kim's designs capture the essence of modern style, color, confidence & personality. Each collection is designed to become a staple in any woman's wardrobe.

Her love for what she does and her excitement when she receives phone calls, letters, and e-mails from her devoted followers is what makes everything worthwhile. Where do her ideas come from? - those uniquely Kim ideas, - such as styling, colors, prints, you ask: some are from her international travels, flavors from different countries, home décor, going to the movies, theatre, checking shoes, boots, handbag trends to insure easy coordination. Kim also visits fabric trade shows around the world. All of which have helped to inspire her and her team in developing the stunning and flattering pieces you see today.

In developing a design, Kim has a keen eye for color and is not apprehensive in producing a retro/bohemian, or retro to mode, even a polished/relaxed or ladylike/chic style. As mentioned on T.V. there are no "rules or regulations" to dressing. It's all about "Mood" and having that satisfying feeling of wearing well designed and easy to care for garments.

Kim's love for fashion has made each and everyone of us feel good about ourselves as women. Her goal has been that every woman should own a designer brand garment at an affordable price and be comfortable as well as looking our best, whether it be casual or dressy. Over the years Kim has shown us how to accessorize, making it our own special personalized creation.
